The Road Surface Information System is what accident prevention is all about.  Road conditions change rapidly and require fast intervention by the winter road maintenance crews in the event of potentially hazardous conditions.  The RSIS will send a warning to the road maintenance crew and/or other personnel if required.

At the same time a message sign can alert motorists of changing road conditions.
